This Maybach ad campaign by David LaChappelle spoke to me on so many different levels and I thought it was appropriate inspiration being that tonite is NYE!! Maybach also speaks luxury and success to me so I wish all of you that in the New Year. But what also gets me is the production of a shoot of this magnitude. I'm like a kid in a candy store looking at all the detail that went into this production!!

What a DOPE concept. Simple. But still BOLD. A statement that needs to be addressed in the fashion industry...SIZE. The fashion industry with it's magazines, advertisements, and catwalks of young-boney-azz-emaciated-blow-over-in-2-seconds-anorexic-or-bulimic baby girls has definitely contributed to how negatively young girls view their body image. In the past few years though, there's been somewhat of a stint to address that issue through the media. Dove's infamous Campaign for Real Beauty is a perfect example showing that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes...AND now V magazine is dedicating an issue (on newsstands everywhere Jan 14th 2010) to the idea of just that! I mean, even though I've modeled in my heyday I was NEVER a size 2...although, I will admit to the fact that I once thought I HAD to be...

Thank God those days are over because I finally realize that I have an athletic build and I LOVE my slender curves...And the two models (Crystal Renn and Jacquelyn Jablonski) wearing the same outfits showing off thier different body shapes is such a clever idea for an editorial...they both are giving it!! I will say though, Crystal doesn't look like a size 12 to me in this editorial...what do you think?

I've been hard pressed to find something that would move me to post and share with you. I fell upon the above quote when dissecting this "idea in progress" - yeah, that's what they call it. They claim it's "not a magazine, not a website, not a blog, it's not even a collection of "good stuff" we found on the internet." So, I guess we are left with an "idea in progress". And in a way, I like to think that my "blog" is just that too, dedicated to inspiring, edifying, & discovering the Art of Fashion...Unfortunately, I DO search the internet to find "good stuff" (more like "DOPE stuff") and I am always inspired from watching everyone else around me...it's actually fun researching the web for the:

ObsessionALERT: Sorel to the Rescue...A Winter Prelude

Lady Yvette is obsessing again...I need HELP!

NO matter what, no one likes their toes to be frost bitten in the winter snow or soggy from the rain...and us girls never like to look unfashionable while dressing accordingly. Personally, I like that rugged outback or snow bunny look incorporated into my winter looks every now and then. Hehehe...

Just the other day I was thinking about those old school snow boots that where popular back in the late 70s early 80s...and for the death of me I can NOT remember the name of those boots. CAN ANYONE REMEMBER? Anyway, these boots that I use to wear a decade ago in the snow, slush and rain look soooooo familiar to Sorel, this boot brand I stumbled upon through DailyCandy.com's email newsletter.


For years since 1962 this brand has made durable men's & women's performance boots for all elements of the outdoors. You have to help me choose because I honestly am having a hard time picking one...I'd pick all of them in all the colors just to have them because I'm just greedy when it comes to shoes but realistically it's not happening so I must pick ONE...and I am count on YOU!! So below are my TOP THREE (3) PICKS (in no particular order) and I will give everyone until December 9th to leave me a comment to tell me which boot you think I should get!!!

1.) Joan of Artic:
I love this style because of the shaft height, color(Hawk) and faux fur trim . I could see this boot worn with a pair of jeggings or plain leggings, with a chunky sweater dress or boyfriend sweater...Even a pair of fatigue cargo pants & a ski bubble jacket. ;-)

2.) Tivoli:
These come in different personalities and I specifically am fond of the green/gray combo...or even the gray/baby blue...or how about the black/white houndstooth???...Any suggestions?

3.) Torino:
This style is almost similar to the Tivoli...the patent leather adds a modern twist and a chic flare that I can actually see incorporated into my wardrobe. What do you think?

Wasn't it Obvious - Project Runway Finale Winner

Congratulations to Irina Shabayeva!!!...it was obvious she was the winner. Don't you think?

Not sure if you all have been following Project Runway now that it's been moved to the Lifetime Network but Season 6 was quite interesting...OK, I mean quite boring. They also tried to do something different by following the one hour show with a 30-minute spin-off show, "Models of the Runway" giving the viewers the models' perspective of the designers' and their own competition. BTW, congrats to Kalyn Hemphill, the model who came out the winner in the models' competition.

I must say though, between all of the contestants and finalist of this season's Project Runway, Irina stuck out to me because of her ability to seamlessly execute her work, her artistic vision, visual understanding of proportion, attention to detail and technical skills. YES, she was most hated on but her work visually already looked at a level that could be taken seriously in this cut-throat, opinionated, criticizing world of fashion. - I guess we can conclude she would fit in quite well. Although, the 13 piece collection she presented back in February for this competition, according to Michael Kors, has already been done before AND it was ALL black which was an issue with Nina Gracia; it was clear she understood how to present a collection that told a story, gave you a sense of who she was as a designer and artistically could take you somewhere....even if it was in BLACK! But I guess what did we expect - she's a New Yorker for crying out loud!! LOL...All the chunky knits, strong outerwear, satin textured skinny pants, oversized tees, leather embellished leggings...made just for “what it takes to survive in the city as a woman." Looking forward to Summer...already - SATC 2 sneak-peek

Ladies, there honestly is no excuse for my disappearing act but I've been unusually busy with auditions, bookings, and interviews this month. I will also share with you that I've been a little out of sorts...down and out...uninspired with the season's change to Fall. You would think that because I am into fashion I would love the Autumn/Winter season but it's hardly the case...

PLEASE, don't get me wrong, though...I do love the idea of layering, wrapping, and wearing rugged boots...oh, and did I mention layering? - But, I guess the weather just gets me down. After all, I am a SUMMER baby...hehehe. Speaking of summer, next year I am sure we all are anticipating the sequel to Sex and the City!! I know I am and to top it off (one of my excuses for my absence) I had the honor of being apart of this movie and shoot a scene at an undisclosed location where we had to look spark-tacular!!!

I didn't ask but these young ladies look familar to me...like I may of seen them on ANTM, maybe? Do you recognize any of them?

Okay, the shoulder pads on this jacket is SIC!! I was amazed at the detail that had to go into making this....although, I will honestly say that the dress on this particular girl didn't work - her shape was too boxy and even though this young lady was atleast 6'0"in tall I would of put this on more of a shapely, curvy, tall type....

I really wish I could get into where, who, and what I saw on set but I am not allowed - it's TOP SECRET. ;-) But, I thought it would be nice for you to get a tiny sneak-peek of a part of production. Oh, and ladies you would DIE for what Sarah Jessica Parker had on in the scene I shot with them!!! I HAVE to recreate the look....so off-beat, but festive, sexy, and flirty!

Can't wait for the movie to come out for the fashion but not only that, I just might make the cutting room floor and be featured in the movie! Let's keep our fingers crossed and in the mean time I'm gonna layer-up in this cold weather! LOL
