ModelReport: NOT as young as you think

So a friend forwarded me an article the other day through Facebook. He brought to my attention that Michael Kors is starting a new model trend where he will no longer hire little girls (under 16 yrs old) to model for him which is ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT in my book!! I mean this makes total sense because I am tired of seeing babies trying to selling me luxe fashions...aren't you? Instead, I picture myself modeling and living in those fab frocks! I mean who doesn't?...

With that being said, I'd like to share with you a few models that will be returning to duty as the fashion ambassadors of the 2010-2011 Fall/Winter ad campaigns; serving as the faces of the luxury brands we most desire...And you'd be delighted to know that they are well over the rightful age of puberty. ;-)

Last month, Karl Largerfeld was spotted in Manhattan shooting models Freja Beha Erichsen and Abbey Lee Kershaw, both 23 for his 2010-11 F/W ad campaign for Chanel. It was confirmed by Andre Leon Tally, that Largerfeld was in town shooting for his Fall FENDI campaign, as well. The current face of FENDI, Anja Rubik, 27 reportedly, will return as the poster girl for a second season....(photocapture above courtesy of FENDI) via fashionologie

Karlie Kloss, 17 (over 16 and will turn 18 in August), VOGUE'S favorite model of 2009, who I am sure you haven't seen enough of is going to return again this year as the face of DIOR. Her All-American but transformable look, I guess is still in demand...Steven Miesel will also return in photocapturing the beauty and former editor of i-D Magazine, Edward Enninful is set to style the shoot.

I must say though, she's been ALL over the place since 2008 and where have I been?? She has really has made quite a presence in the fashion industry...VOGUE Italia & America covers, Nina Ricci, Hermes, Alexandar McQueen ad campaigns and catwalks from here to Paris!! WOW!

Now, the classic American designer, Michael Kors just wrapped his 2010 Fall campaign which was shot in L.A. and Carmen Kass, 31 (can you believe her age??...ahhhh, yes she give me hope) is once again the reigning face of this brand along with male model, Noah Mills. And I am assuming that the brand wants to stick with what they know because photographer Mario Testino has photo captured the campaign once again! via Culture Snob

Thank God for Michael Kors taking a stance on this trend of not using models that are not still in grade school. I mean, c'mon...let''s be real, most women that can afford luxury fashions are not 13 - 14 yrs old. Anyways, with the 2010 Fall/Winter collections like VOGUE's online editor Caroline Palmer writes, "Fall 2010 is fashion's coming of age."...Well, I salute to that!

LOUIS VUITTON'S FALL 09 AD CAMPAIGN

Honestly, I am not sure how I feel about the Fall 09 Louis Vuitton Campaign featuring the Material Girl, MADONNA. It's not Steven Meisel's best I must say, though. And I think it's over done with this overexposed technique they use called solarization. Real talk, WHO came up with this concept??? I'd love to sit down with them and find out why they went this direction with the campaign.

I stare at it and it doesn't speak to me...I love the mood and color tones (purple speaks Fall 09...purple is my favorite color...purple is the color of royalty) but the post is too distorted...and why is Madonna modeling...how old is she, again? Well, I guess I can't talk but this is a bit much. Wouldn't you agree or tell me, are you feeling this??...But, what do I know because when it's all said and done it's ALL about sales...and last season (S/S 09 - the collection was SUPERB!!) they sold out within a few months according to Antoine Arnault, LV's communication director. Madonna does have that affect and I don't knock it, after all...

Marc Jacobs for LV is doing a WONDERFUL job interpreting this season's fall trends but I still do not feel it shows through in this campaign because let me tell you...you ain't seen nothing' yet until you've seen this fall's thigh-hi boots that are in trend this fall!

in LOVE,
Lady Yvette

Style-o-nomics 101: spring trend alert!!!

Hey my luvs...just found this image of Victoria Beckham rockin' Balmain. The look is so ON for the season, my dears...take note:

So here we have bleach-splattered jeans and a tough leather blazer with edgy structured shoulder padding. A very rocker-chic-still-about-her-business-though look...lol!

Now, you can switch it up and instead of the tailored blazer you can go for the boyfriend blazer where the fit is more relaxed and slightly oversized. Also the length of the jeans can be shorter, more of a capri instead of skinnys. One more thing...PLATFORM sandals can top the look of like a cherry on a sundae!!!

Holla at cha gryl...I mean lady...lol!!!!

SUMMER ALERT!!!!!!

So, now that spring is here and it hasn't even been close to the average high this month, I am truly looking forward to the summer HOT weather that's to come! And when it does, I don't want ya'll complaining about how hot it is and instead, take Mz. Lady Yvette's lead and grab some of the most comfy, drapy, "paper-tissue-thin", tees, tanks and jersey-knit tops to keep you extra cool this summer.

The ever-so-soft fabrics like Micro-Modal, TENCEL blends, and organic Supima blends are high-in-use by contemporary women's' brands this season for t-shirts, tanks, and tops. These fabrics whether man-made or natural have similar properties but range different in price, softness, and practicality. My fascination with the feel and look lead me to share with you more on these popular textiles. Three personal picks of trendy t-shirt brands are ranked from soft, very soft to most soft.

SOFT
:

These relaxed-fit, hip, and tribal-inspired graphic tees are simple with that lazy but funky urban spin. I personally love the cool feel and shape of the micro-modal fabric used to create these t-shirts. Micro-modal is made only from beechwood but is chemically processed thus being considered an "artificial silk". On the skin it feels cool to the touch, has a high resistance to shrinkage and has a slight sheen to the fabric. You can find Torn by ronny kobe online at shopbop.com

VERY SOFT:

The most intriguing blend of fabrics used is the 50% TENCEL and 50% BAMBOO. David and Laure Pariente of french label, Zoe tee's describes their innovative brand as the "couture for the t-shirt". Tencel is the brand name used for lyocell and this breakthrough fiber made from wood pulp cellulose, unlike modal, is processed chemically free thus making this fabric eco-friendly. Now the reason why Tencel is such a breakthrough fabric is because this high-performance textile allows for new functional properties that are most unique. It is said to be soft as silk, strong as polyester, cool as linen, warm as wool, and as absorbent as cotton. Now after all that being said who wouldn't want a t-shirt made like that! I have to also mention that this special fabric is so dynamic that it also serves as a natural cooling system for the skin. It absorbs excess liquids and releases it quickly back into the atmosphere. Functionally, superb for those sweaty hot days!!!! The blend of the lyocell and bamboo of these particular tees create a demi-sheer affect and is very soft with a nice stretch in the fabric. Online you can find Zoe tee's at www.shopstyle.com - not much of a variety there but you can stop by the boutique I work cuz we carry a wide variety, fo'sure.

Although, it didn't rank as the softest in my opinion, I still would give any tee made with Tencel a thumbs up just because it's 100% biodegradable and organic and the manufacturing process of this fabric is environmentally safe.

MOST SOFT:

In my opinion, these demi-sheer tops by Twen-tee are by far the most soft to the touch of all t-shirts. The light-weight, paper-tissue thin fabric adds the supple drape to the layered look I love so much. Twen-tees uses a blend of organic supima and cashmere. Supima being the world's most finest, rarest, and most sought after cotton, short for superior pima is made from ELS (Extra Long Staple Cotton). The softness of this fabric is created by the extra long fiber length also creating the radiant fabric surface that's less likely to pill - I mean that's great cuz I hate when my shirts do that! Twen-tees are not only available at the boutique but you can find the basics at Nordstrom.com .

You can find jersey knit tops and tanks made from regular cotton, polyester or rayon blends anywhere that will keep you cool. But let's take it to the next level...Don't be afraid to check the labels to see what the top or t-shirt is made of...that way you get a better idea of the quality of the garment.

For something so basic, Mz. Lady Yvette believes that it does hurt to invest in the best! - Why not get it all...the comfort, style/look, and practicality, all in one?????????
